Vision and Priorities
“Now is the time for us, all together, to work diligently at building a sustainable and prospering tomorrow for everyone, leveraging the unique assets of land, diversity, and economic growth that we share”
I will bring pragmatic planning, problem-solving skills, rigor, and thinking outside the box, to the county. I will ensure a steady focus on promoting sound growth to meet the serious needs of today, while safeguarding the ability of our grandchildren to meet theirs and preserving the attractive uniqueness of our county.
My focus and effort will be on:
- A foresighted mix of energy sourcing.
- An adequate infrastructure and its proper maintenance.
- Effective solutions to fight the growing inaccessibility of housing, mobility, healthy food, and medical services, for the elderly, for our youth trying to start their life, and for our poorest working hard at trying to get ahead and making a living, holding jobs that make the quality of life we want to keep possible and that would be impossible without them.
- Securing funding for up-to-date education programs that provide the skills required to successfully address tomorrow’s serious challenges. This includes the curriculums necessary for the new “clean” energy industries, or the recycling industry, and for bringing to our state industries and good paying jobs moved abroad.
- Preservation of biodiverse open spaces, and neighborhoods of character, for the next generation to experience the same quality of life we were gifted with, and for our place to remain attractive in the future.
Sensible, sustainable growth can only happen when the return on investment benefits our local communities, when local employment and small business thrive, with fair wages, shared benefits, effective public transportation, affordable child and elderly care, and is supported by a strong education system that provides the very new skill sets required to build the future, including internships and vocational education.
Generations before us have worked hard to give us what we have today. We must rise up to their example and work hard to build the right legacy for our children, their children, and grandchildren.
The time for this hard work is now.
